Efficiency of modified Goldman’s technique in open pediatric septoplasty

Abstract Background Performing nasal surgery on children has been the subject of controversy among surgeons. Specifically, indications for and timing septoplasty in have debated last several decades. In this study, we access efficacy modified Goldman’s technique dealing with caudal septal deviation pediatric population suffering from severe obstruction its effect functions postoperatively. 30 patients deviated septum who are candidate were included underwent open using technique. They subjected to detailed assessment protocol preoperatively including NOSE scale, anterior rhinomanometry, CT scans. Follow-up was done at second week postoperative rhinoscopy endoscopy 3 months scale rhinomanometry. Results There a statistically significant decrease severity none 90% cases. Three postoperative, all performed active rhinomanometry total resistance values inspiratory ranging 0.1 0.5 Pa/cm /s mean 0.26 expiratory 0.6 0.31 /s. Conclusions Open enabled accurate conservative approach correction especially those located region. The also offers reduction symptoms postoperatively marked improvement quality life cases septum.
